Jennifer N, MSW, Registered Social Worker (#818649) Accepting New Clients
Jennifer is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. She has over 18 years of experience serving in the areas of child protection, school and community outreach, and health care including home care and hospital settings.
She has an Honours Bachelor of Social Work from University of Waterloo and a Master of Social Work from Dordt University with a focus on clinical counselling. In addition, she has specialized training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy through the association for psychological therapies and is currently engaged in learning through the Christian Counselling Education Foundation (CCEF) towards certification in Biblical counselling.
Jennifer’s passion for being a therapist comes from knowing the difference it can make to have somewhere you can feel safe, supported, and heard. She believes therapy is a tool to help individuals build strengths to navigate life, to get unstuck and ultimately move towards personal growth and independence. She works from a client-centred approach, where building relationship and collaborating with the client are integral aspects towards healing.
Jennifer’s approach utilizes evidence-based interventions that draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), solution focussed therapy, and polyvagal theory to help clients learn to identify emotions and regulate their nervous system, challenge unhelpful thoughts and learn skills to cope with life’s challenges.
She believes in treating the whole person, exploring the physical, mental, relational and spiritual needs of each client, collaborating to meet the client’s identified needs and goals.
